TCOM Project

About The Project

In the fall of 2006, Sea Lion Studio began working on a unique project involving a course in the Department of Telecommunications at BGSU that puts undergraduate students out across the commmunity taking part in the production of stories that appear on
the BG File website.

Kelli Kling, the instructor of the
course (TCOM 264 - Interactive Media Technologies), guides the students through a curriculum interwoven with the production process used by the Studio in putting together BG File stories.

The students in the class work throughout the semester in different roles, gaining experience in the entire range of jobs involved in producing material for the web.

Students do research for their stories and also draw from video, images, and other content produced by Sea Lion Studio. Each student's experience culminates in developing web pages for their selected topic that are published on BG File.

The Stories

Students in the TCOM course selected the subjects of the stories with help from Studio staff. Most of the time the students were able to explore aspects of Bowling Green that were new to them, though some students brought special meaning to stories that were already close to their hearts.

Explore the list below of past stories the students have contributed to. A listing of the most recent stories can be found here.
