Learning Communities

 In certain residence halls there are learning communities, which are special communities that bring together students with similar interests.  There are nine learning communities:  the Arts Village, Chapman community, honors community, impact community, Spanish community, French community, Natural and Health Science community, Global Village, and Partner in Context community. The largest and most popular communities are the Arts Village, Chapman Community, Honors community, and Global Village.  The most active learning community, Arts Village, located within the Harshman Quads,  is for student who share the same interests for art, theatre, music, and digital arts.  Students who are interested in community services such as social and cultural issues, and events can participate in the Chapman learning community located in Kohl hall.  The Honors community, located within the Harshmen Quad as well, is for students who are interests in critical higher thinking. Students who participate engage in dept undergraduate research, and become leaders for Bowling Green State University. Those who are interested in international or intercultural issue can participate in Global Village, which is located in Conklin Hall. Learning communities help students to build a social relationship with those who share the same interests. Students can meet new people, learn, form study groups, work on projects with another, and create programs.

Students who live on campus have the opportunity to get involve in a variety of activities. Residence halls are not just for spaces for students to live and do their homework, they are also communities that help students interact with one another. The social communities help to form a safe and unnerving environment where students can create friendships and allow personal growth. The purpose of Bowling Green State University on-campus living is to help the students feel like home away from home. Parents can be ensured that their child is not only receiving a good education, but is living in a safe and highly interactive environment.
