BGSU Honors Program
(Continued)
What students bring away from the Honors Program is so much more than a mark on their transcript. The program attains to instill lifelong skills and a strong sense of leadership. Bethany Nanamaker, a successful member of the program and IMPACT resident, speaks to the benefits of the Honors experience: βTo become a more confident individual, more confident in what I believe, and more confident in what I believe the world around me is like β is something I developed because I was in the Honors Program.β
Currently, the Honors Center is housed within the Harshman Quadrangle on campus, but director Paul Moore looks forward to the future of the Honors Program. "Within the next five years, the program hopes to become a residential college so they have dorms, classrooms, art rooms, music practice rooms and theaters, all dedicated to these higher achieving students."

The Honors Program features a continuous admission process, meaning that both incoming freshmen and continuing/transfer students are eligible to apply. The program is open to students of all majors, though certain guidelines must be met: for incoming freshmen, a high school GPA of 3.5 is usually required, as well as a 27 ACT score. A 3.5 cumulative GPA is required for any continuing/transfer student.
"The ability to ask questions - to know when to ask questions, to know what questions to ask," says Moore, "I think are essential to just about everything we do."
