About The Project In the fall of 2006, Sea Lion Studio began working on a unique project involving a course in the Telecommunications Department at BGSU that puts undergraduate students out across the commmunity taking part in the production of Short Features stories for the BG File website. ![]() Kelli Kling, the instructor of the course (TCOM 264), guides the students through a curriculum that has been interwoven with the production process used by the Studio in putting together stories for BG FIle. The students in the class work along side Studio staff throughout the semester, trading off roles and gaining experience in the entire range of jobs involved in producing material for the web. 18 students participated in the first run of the project during fall semester of 2006, producing 5 stories for BG File. 15 stories were developed by the class during the spring semester of 2007, and 18 new stories are being readied for publication from the efforts of the students who took the course in the fall semester of 2007.

The Stories Students in the TCOM course selected the subjects of the stories with help from Studio staff. Most of the time the students were able to explore aspects of Bowling Green that were new to them, though some students brought special meaning to stories that were already close to their hearts.
