Fire Department

When the Bowling Green Fire Department answers a call, their mission is to provide the emergency services needed as quickly and safely as possible. And the department is currently recognized as one of the top 10 fire stations in Ohio in their ability to do just that.

Over the last 7 years there has been an average of 500 fire-related responses annually by the department, including for such things as residential fires, alarms, investigation responses, unauthorized burns, dumpster/trash fires, and vehicle fires. During the same time period the department responded annually to an average of more than 1500 rescue or emergency transport situations.

The Bowling Green Fire Department maintains two stations in the city. The larger of the two is located at 552 E. Court St., just north of E. Wooster St. and across from the BGSU campus. There are eight staff on duty at all times at this station, generally including one Shift Captain, one Lieutenant, three Firefighters/Emergency Medical Technicians, two Firefighters/Paramedics, and one Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate.

The Court St. station also houses the offices of the Fire Chief and Deputy Chief as well as other administrative staff and facilities.

A second station was added in recent years at 1060 Pearl St. in the midst of the main residential areas of the city, and, importantly, on the opposite side of the city's main railroad tracks from the Court St. station. The station on Pearl St. has four staff on duty all the time, generally consisting of one Shift Lieutenant, two Freighters/EMTs, and one Frefighter/Paramedic.
