The Arborist and the City’s Tree
Commission (a board appointed by the Mayor)
together develop a wide range of educational and informational
programs and resources for the community. These include
a range of seminars covering proper tree pruning, watering
and fertilizing, planting tips and more. A larger project
was the Emerald
Ash Borer Preparedness Plan, which was implemented
to educate the public about those invasive pests. The
plan involved creating an inventory of the ash trees
on private property and putting in place a restoration-planting
program.
