The night was exciting and full of energy, not only from
the drag queens on stage, but from the audience, and
the DJ’s choice of music. Uptown is an unique
venue that supports an openly expressive lifestyle.
Which supports the gay community along with a few gay-friendly
supporters. Rebecca believes that Uptown has been a
huge influence on the gay community because it is an “outlet
to express themselves.” Tuesday night at Uptown
is a cool, relaxed atmosphere with high-energized music. ‘Drag
Night’ attracts a variety of ages and lifestyles,
and attitudes seem to be in check…besides the ‘queens’ on
stage. The only conflict is trying to get a good view
of the drag show.

‘Drag
Night’ is a great source for local
gays and straight people to enjoy themselves. The night
is filled with laughs, entertainment, and dancing but
it is much more than gays, lesbians, and transgenders,
it is a place for individuality. Craig Schabel, a third-year
student at Bowling Green State University and an openly
gay male, finds that Tuesday nights at Uptown “helps
others to be open and self-expressive.” With
the world currently filled with wars, discrimination,
and hate its more vital than ever for individuals to
release their inner feelings and be tolerant and respectful
of others. ‘Drag
Night’ is helping to
change people’s opinion about homosexuals and
transgenders and like Rebecca says, “making it
a better world one town at a time.” - Do your ‘thang’ honey!
