Fruit and Film in BG
The employees at Video Spectrum are knowledgeable about movies and can help look for particular titles or subjects. They also maintain an Employee Favorites section with their recommendations. "You've really got to have a knowledgeable staff, and I have been so blessed," Sue Wilkins said. "The kids out there they love this store and basically it's their store, they take care of it."
Sue has been busy herself taking care of Smoovies, a new venture she has recently opened directly next door to the Video Spectrum. Smoovies is a movie-themed smoothie and drink parlor, also offering a variety of snacks and tasty edibles. Inside the store is brightly colored and decorated with pictures of movie stars, movie props, colorful signs and displays. There is patio seating outside with umbrellas for use in the pleasant weather.
All of the smoothie drink offerings have film related names such as Planet of the Grapes, Apple-Calypse-Now, or Bannanalyze This, and are made right in front of the customer with fresh ingredients and never any sugar added. A unique at Smoovies is Bubble Tea, a black tea combined with tapioca gelatin bubbles which has been popular on the East and West Coasts. Sue Wilkins says the drink is catching on here and they're often selling more of it than their coffees.
