Against another wall are different packs of card games,
miniatures, and board games available for purchase. The
Gamers Lounge also carries non-gaming merchandise such
as comics. All the newest issues of a wide range of comic
titles can be found at the lounge. Gaming and comic related
magazines are also available, along with snacks, soda,
and of course, energy drinks. The Gamers Lounge charges
$3 per hour of computer usage, while decks of cards cost
around $4 per pack. After buying a pack of cards, customers
can test out their newest cards against other players
while there in the lounge.
To bring in new customers, The Gamers Lounge posts flyers
around town, and also hosts weekly card and videogame
tournaments. They sponsor pro card players in games such
as Magic: The Gathering, and The Spoils, and send them
to national tournaments across the country. They have
occasionally allowed a one-time fee for “lock-ins,” where
customers can pay a flat fee and have unlimited online
gaming access all night. The Gamers Lounge also has its
own website at www.gamersloungeonline.com where customers
can go to read about upcoming events as well as talk
to fellow gamers in the forums.

bar: there are some that stop by to have a few drinks,
and some that stay to get drunk. At the lounge, however,
instead of drinks, the customers are gaming.
Recently, The Gamers Lounge has expanded its business
further east by opening another store in downtown Sandusky,
OH. The new store, formerly known as The Hero Zone,
is larger than its Bowling Green counterpart, but offers
the same services and products. Alex and Spencer plan
on expanding The Gamers Lounge even further. They have
plans to open another lounge in Findlay, and a fourth
store in Mansfield. By 2008, they plan on opening a
much larger, more expansive Gamers Lounge in Columbus.
Alex Merced and Spencer Marugg have found an audience
that was looking for a place like The Gamers Lounge,
and that audience did not exist solely in Bowling Green.
With future plans for expansion in Findlay, Mansfield,
and Columbus, The Gamers Lounge has become a huge success.

What started as a challenge for the two co-owners eventually
became a reality. If you have any interest in gaming,
stop by 902 East Wooster Street and check out The Gamers
Lounge, visit their downtown Sandusky location at 127
East Market Street, or check them out online at www.gamersloungeonline.com.
