Bowling
Green houses many businesses and shops that also benefit from the
festival’s turn out. Coinciding with the visiting vendors,
Bowling Green’s businesses and restaurants also benefit from
the attention drawn to downtown. Jiving with the creative
energy that flows through town, the businesses gladly open their
doors to visitors to help promote the event. Not only do patrons
return to the Black Swamp Arts Festival for great visual art and
musical performances, but the entertainment goes beyond fulfilling
with an array of food venders and tempting beer on tap such as Guinness
and Stella Artois. Floating in the air is the aroma of specialty
foods and indulgent deep-fried sweets. With a festival of this size
and quality, run solely by volunteers, the revenue from such tasty
treats are one of the main financial supporters for the following
festival each year.
The
art festival is family fun all day long, while the beer garden continues to host
a party through the night with live music, great food items and of course, draft
beer. Participants of the activities can even buy a nostalgic BSAF glass,
stamped with the year and the festival lizard-logo.
In the Black Swamp Art Festival’s attempt to promote Bowling
Green as well as the arts, volunteers, as many as 500 or more,
help to execute what is planned for an entire year prior. The
city’s roads are closed, chairs are set up, art vendors are
taken care of, and the entire event is orchestrated with plenty
of help at hand. Specific to this year’s 14th annual
festival, a hospitality room was set up for all artists involved
for refreshments, information, and a place to gather or relax.
With
the co-operation of all members in the Bowling Green community,
utilities, businesses, police, and the multiple, multiple volunteers, the Black
Swamp Arts Festival has been a tried and true event, celebrated and welcomed
by all. Join the gathering next Fall for the annual Black Swamp Arts Festival,
an event free of charge, guaranteed to be great blend of music and visual art
as well as a celebration and good time for all.
